“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.” Therefore Israel will be abandoned until the time when she who is in labor bears a son, and the rest of his brothers return to join the Israelites. He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth.” Micah 5:2-4
This photo may not appear to reveal too much but look carefully. This young girl who lives high in the mountains above Arcahaie attends the Lutheran school at Chincheron and is holding in her hand a book called ‘Nouvo Testaman’; the ‘New Testament’. This is God pleasing. Two hundred fifty years ago her descendants came to Haiti and now years later this little girl is holding in her hands a Bible that she can read and tell her parents and family the truth about Jesus Christ and the only way to Eternal Life. God’s perfect Will is accomplished in His timing; all the time. I don’t know about you, but when I am having trouble with my remote control I call my daughters and in the same manner, this child’s parents cannot read and this precious daughter of theirs can and when she does, they listen. And you can help feed this child every day for a quarter so that her voice will be clear and strong when she is sharing the story about the Light of this world; feeding her is God pleasing. Today, I am closing with words from the fourth verse of the hymn ‘I AM forever Who I AM’ from Kurt Von Kampen.
Like shepherds watching for the light, aware of dangers in the night we hear the angel “Do not fear, the Savior of the world is near.” We run, we see, we touch, we laugh; You came to earth on our behalf. I AM forever WHO I AM. Above you, beneath you, around you and within you; be still and know that I am God.
Dear Heavenly Father, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.
May God be with you…Jay
