Why is it taking so long?

“We praise you, God, we praise you, for your Name is near; people tell of your wonderful deeds.  You say, “I choose the appointed time; it is I who judge with equity.  When the earth and all its people quake, it is I who hold its pillars firm.  To the arrogant I say, ‘Boast no more,’ and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horns.  Do not lift your horns against heaven; do not speak so defiantly.” Psalm 75:1-5

We are midway through the season of Lent.  We believers know how the story ends.  The people in the Old Testament had waited a long time for the promised Savior to come their fallen world.  Our God keeps His promises.  He is faithful.  Just as He brought Jesus into this fallen world in His time, He is going to bring justice to Haiti in a mysterious way.  Wait for it.  Our Savior defeated satan on the Cross of Calvary and our God will bring an end to the chaos in Haiti in His time; if not now, later.  If not later, then in eternity.  God will make it right; He always does.

The news coming out of Haiti is numbing as you try to image what our brothers and sisters are going through today.  They probably have gone without food for many days.  They fear for their lives to set foot out of wherever they have found shelter.  One thing that I know, and you will probably agree, is that when a challenge backs you up against a wall, you find yourself closer to Jesus than when times are good.  Believers in PAP are encountering Jesus today; more than yesterday.  His Words are on their lips and in their hearts.  Children enduring this present challenge are being prepared for even bigger events in their young lives.  They will lead others to the Cross of Christ where they have found their HOPE.  They wait, knowing that He is faithful and will one day bring them into His kingdom along with all believers.  And now, today, we wait…and continue to pray.

Heavenly Father, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown.  Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  Amen.

May God be with you,

Jay
