The best translation.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17

I think that I recently shared that my daughters and I follow the daily devotion on the Bible app on our phones.  I really struggle with the ASV translation that is used and yesterday was another time of frustration.  It is my thought that the group who chose the American Standard Version for this Bible App did so because it was the alphabetical first choice and nobody bothered to check it out.  Thankfully, most of the presenters in the devotion generally read from the NIV which is quite often, noticeably different.  I’m just wondering, which is the best translation that you like to read?  These girls from the Lutheran school in Chincheron are holding up their own copy of the New Testament in French and it’s probably the King James Version.

What is your favorite version?  I feel that the best translation is the one that you can most easily translate it into your life.  That is what Bible study is all about.  If you are not translating God’s Word into your life, you are not studying the Bible the way God intended.  When I get frustrated reading the ASV, my mind begins to wander to the delight of satan.

God gave us the Bible to transform us, not simply to inform us.  It should give us a bigger heart, not a bigger head.  The purpose of the Bible is more than just showing us what is wrong in our lives or how we should live.  God gave us His Word to radically transform our lives and the lives of His children living in Haiti.

The Bible is essential to our lives because it gives us life.  God gave each of us the Living Word, Jesus, to be the Author and Perfector of our faith.  And He gave us the written Word, the Bible, to prepare us to live out our faith.  The Bible can transform your life today but you have to open it up and start reading and enjoy being in His Word!

Dear Heavenly Father, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown.  Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  Amen.

May God be with you,

Jay
