“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” 1 Peter 3:15
This passage from first Peter encourages each of us to always, no matter where we may be, to be prepared to share the reason for the hope that we have in Christ Jesus, and only in Him. That message holds true for us living in North American and for His people living throughout this fallen world.
I spent a couple of hours yesterday going through literally hundreds of photos that either I took while living in Haiti or somebody else captured while visiting Haiti with a mission team. The three girls in the attached photo attend the Lutheran school at Torbeck which is in the Les Cayes District. I am sure that I’ve shared them before but their facial expressions are timeless. They are standing behind an un-finished wall, something North America began but did not complete. There are a lot of unfinished walls and buildings in Haiti; the money ran out and the construction halted. There is unfinished business all over this world.
You and I and these three girls from Torbeck are all un-finished business. Easter Hope addresses un-finished business. Our Creator has had plans for us from the beginning of time and now the Holy Spirit is working in us to go out into this world and connect with a soul that is waiting to hear the reason for our hope. I listened to the song ‘Shout to the Lord’ this morning on my laptop and the lyrics really seem to go well with the message that we are called to share in Haiti and throughout the corners of this world.
“Shout to the Lord, all the earth, let us sing power and majesty, praise to the King; mountains bow down and the seas will roar at the sound of Your name. I sing for joy at the work of Your hands, forever I'll love You, forever I'll stand, nothing compares to the promise I have in You. My Jesus, My Savior, Lord, there is none like You; all of my days I want to praise the wonders of Your mighty love. My comfort, my shelter, tower of refuge and strength; let every breath, all that I am never cease to worship You. Shout to the Lord, all the earth, let us sing power and majesty, praise to the King; mountains bow down and the seas will roar at the sound of Your name. I sing for joy at the work of Your hands, forever I'll love You, forever I'll stand, nothing compares to the promise I have in You.” Thank you for continuing to support the ‘un-finished’ business attending Christian schools in Haiti, may their lives shout to the land their love for their Lord.
Dear Heavenly Father, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.
May God be with you,
Jay
