Choose Heaven.

“We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8

A few days ago I listened to a David Jeremiah broadcast and he talked about an eternal reality that we all really need to know; there is no second chance after you die.  You get to choose where you’re going to spend eternity.  But you have to choose now while you’re alive, not after you’re dead.  There is no going back!  God gives you an entire lifetime on this side of Heaven to make the right decision.  If you keep putting it off, then there will be no second chance to get it right once you have died.  There is no halfway house between heaven and hell.  There’s no intermediate state.  There’s no limbo. There is no purgatory.

When Jesus was dying on the cross, there was a thief next to him who had been a criminal his entire life.  In his last moments of life in this fallen, sin filled world, the man surrendered his life to Jesus and said, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom”.  All he knew about salvation was that Jesus could save him.  He didn’t know all the doctrines or theology.  He didn’t know all the “right” words.  He just said “yes” to Jesus.  And because of his faith, Jesus said to him, “Today you will be with me in paradise”.

God has done everything possible to make sure that you get into heaven.  Now you have to do your part to ensure you partake of His promise.  Have you made your choice?  Have you brought the saving Light of this world to another living in uncertainty about eternity?

Dear Heavenly Father, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown.  Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  Amen.

May God be with you,

Jay
