“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident. One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. Psalm 27:1-4
How often do you stop and look at what is going on in this world and ask yourself “what the heck is going on here?” I was just in the hospital for twelve days and did a lot of reading and steered clear of the television news. I was reading about Professional football and basketball players and team owners bickering over how to split up billions of dollars; BILLIONS of dollars. The ‘learned’ of this world tell us that icebergs are melting faster than ever before recorded and if we go EV instead of fossil fuel ‘our’ world will be saved. Some say that all these challenges are just distractions for something even bigger. Please, just stop the madness.
To the small child in the attached photo, none of the news in the above paragraph is news to her. The most important news to her is that she has a friend and Savior in Jesus who defeated the vodou priest down the street; even though he will not acknowledge that truth. What matters to her is that she is saved, has a home in Heaven waiting and gets a noon meal at her school in Cap Haitian. Tomorrow may be her moment in time to share the news of her Savior with another friend in her neighborhood who still lives in fear and without hope. Thank you for helping to prepare her for this moment on her journey. Just one more time, Psalm 27; “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
Dear Heavenly Father, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.
May God be with you,
Jay
