Near the end?

“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father”  Matthew 24:36

Is the end of time near?  I don’t like to particularly dwell on this topic but it has been coming up more and more in Bible study recently.  I heard recently that from 1973 through 2000 an estimated 39 million legal abortions were conducted in the United States and recently more groups are pushing to abolish the death penalty.  Another State has legalized same sex marriages.  How does our Triune God view the direction our country has been taking during the past decades?  Thomas Jefferson was quoted as saying “The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.”  The children in the attached photo are not keeping up with the news coming out of our country.  These children attended the Lutheran school in Rue Frere and some of them may be in Heaven today following the earthquake…their end of times may have come.  Some may be enjoying their Heavenly mansion while the remainder of their class are prayerfully sharing the news of Jesus Christ with the ears that have not heard that life-saving message.

We don’t know when the end of time will come but until that day does come, I hope that you will continue to help prepare children in Haiti to bring the Gospel light to Haiti.  Trinity/HOPE continues to feed children and that must surely bring a smile to the face of our Savior.  I heard a song on the way home that was written by Jessica Andrews.  The title is ‘God don’t give up on us’ and I couldn’t find too much information about this song, but its words seemed to match well with what is taking place today.

“Who will win the holy war?  Can you tell me what they’re fighting for?  And do you look down in disgust; God don’t give up on us.  Mother Nature’s ashamed and bruised.  All her precious gifts abused.  Her forest burns, her rivers rust; God don’t give up on us.  Don’t give up on me, don’t give up on love; nothing loved is ever lost.  God don’t give up on us.  We hold our babies in our arms and pray you’ll keep them safe from harm in a world that’s so unjust.  God don’t give up on us.  Don’t give up on me.  Don’t give up on love.  Nothing loved is ever lost; God don’t give up on us.  For every bullet fired, for every soul that’s lost; forgive our dark desires and the pain we’ve caused.  Please don‘t close your eyes, to the part of us that’s beautiful...still beautiful.  How can we regain your trust?  God don’t give up; God don’t give up on us.”

Dear Heavenly Father, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown.  Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  Amen.

May God be with you…Jay
