“My heart, O God, is steadfast; I will sing and make music with all my soul. Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. For great is your love, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.” Psalm 108:1-5
I saw a commercial for a movie yesterday with a tagline that caught my attention and seemed to really go well with the attached photo. The line was “Not all superheroes wear a cape” and that is so true with these four Haitian children and over 22,000 like them that are the unsung heroes who are bringing Hope to Haiti this summer. They are doing it without any capes, masks or any North American standing next to them; super heroes for our Triune God. And don’t you think that our Heavenly Father and the company of Angels are smiling as these are sharing the meaning of their witness bracelets with a soul that has no hope. If you do want to help these four to furthers spread this message please prayerfully consider helping to provide them with a lunch in the coming school year. A dollar will provide them with a hot lunch and you will be a hero to them; and you don’t need a cape either. I am closing today with the words from the hymn ‘Awake, My Soul, and with the Sun’ that were written by Thomas Ken in 1695.
“Awake, my soul, and with the sun thy daily stage of duty run; shake off dull sloth and joyful rise to pay thy morning sacrifice. Let all thy converse be sincere, thy conscience as the noonday clear; think how the all-seeing God thy ways and all thy secret thought surveys. All praise to Thee, who safe hast kept and hast refreshed me whilst I slept. Grant, Lord, when I from death shall wake, I may of endless light partake. Lord, I my vows to Thee renew; disperse my sins as morning dew; guard my first springs of thought and will and will Thyself my spirit fill. Direct, control, suggest, this day all I design or do or say that all my powers, with all their might, in Thy sole glory may unite. Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise Him, all creatures here below; praise Him above, ye heavenly host: praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.”
Dear Heavenly Father, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.
May God be with you…Jay
